Dear Friends,

The last time I wrote on this Amazing Grey’s wall was Lent and talked about giving things up. Well, we all have given things up. From my place to yours, I haven’t always enjoyed the journey. How about you? In fact, I bottomed out one afternoon and was ready to through in the towel. Then my phone rang and it was Pastor Jeff. Talk about timing he encouraged me just when I needed it. We can do that for each other.

Speaking of encouragement, I have seen and heard that many of you have been sending cards, making phone calls and participated in the car parade for Linda Marr. Many of you attended  Zoom Bible study. We were all waving trying to find who was there and who wasn’t.

I remember right before I retired my thoughts were that I wanted to finish strong because that’s how people remember you. I’m not ready to quit, in fact I refuse to quit. So, let’s all finish strong.  How are you doing? Anything you need? If you do call me 614-593-2697 or email bmathias@rumc.org.

Listen to these words.  Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Souls who don’t know Jesus! Who will reach them? It’s you and it’s me.

And this: Hebrews 12:1

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…”

I hope you are with me? We need each other. Please keep calling and writing, it matters.

I’m not sure when we will all be together but this, I do know I love you all and Jesus loves you. We don’t want to rush coming together and then take a step backwards. You and I are in the high-risk group due to age. (Lots of other stuff) So, here’s what I know for sure about coming back it will be slow and these things must be met.

Can we do it safely, responsibly, and meet people’s expectations?

Keep loving and caring.

Until He Comes,

Pastor Bob Mathias

Friendly Neighbors

We know this season of life is difficult on all of us, but especially those 65 and older.  It can be hard and dangerous for you to get out and run everyday errands for essential items and needs. In response to the current situation in our world we have put together a team of friends, neighbors, and volunteers committed to helping make life easier for you during this time.  We encourage you to reach out to one of our friendly neighbors for help during this time.

Birdwatching Tips

As many of us find ourselves stuck inside or at home we can quickly run out of things to keep our minds active.  Our friends from Wesley Ridge have provided us with some helpful links for a new hobby we can all do together…Birdwatching!

In addition to identifying bird types, I am also trying to recognize my “regulars”  so that I know who is frequenting the feeder.  This takes a bit more practice and a decent pair of binoculars.
